Demonstration of solar fencing and solar-powered products for farming families of Chakrata block, under the campaign “Save crops – install solar fencing”.
The Solar Energy Products Demonstration and Training Programme was organised under the project Integrated Livelihood, Renewable Energy, and Environmental Resilience Initiative for Rural Communities of Uttarakhand with the message “फसल बचाओ – सोलर फेंसिंग लगाओ” (Save crops – install solar fencing).
Crop damage by wild animals is one of the biggest reasons hill families give up farming. The programme demonstrated solar fencing and other solar-powered products, explained how they work, what they cost and how they can be maintained locally, and showed live set-ups in the field.
