Women artisans learned to turn Kumaon's traditional Aipan into saleable products — painted cups, plates, stoles, jewellery and décor — along with pricing and marketing.
Aipan is the ritual floor and wall art of Kumaon, drawn with rice paste (biswar) on a red ochre (geru) base. The workshop helped women carry this heritage onto everyday products that can earn an income.
The workshop covered:
- Aipan motifs, their meaning and colours, with practice on paper and boards
- Applying Aipan on ceramics, textiles, wooden plates and jewellery
- Costing, pricing, packaging and display of products
- An exhibition of the work and certificate distribution in the presence of officials
